Career Opportunity: Hydrogeologist
The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) is seeking to recruit a Hydrogeologist to support the hydrological, weather and climatological research, development and training activities at the Institute.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work in a team conducting multi-disciplinary training, research and development to support:
- Climate variability and change studies to guide regional and national adaptation practices;
- The development and implementation of strategies to support disaster risk reduction across a range of spatial and temporal scales relevant to the Caribbean; and
- Water resources management utilizing such concepts as integrated water resources management.
The successful candidate will also be required to sit on national, regional and international committees and to conduct regional and international travel.
The successful candidate should possess a Graduate Degree specializing in either hydrogeology, civil engineering, hydrology or water resources management with at least three (3) years of professional experience in either industry or academia. Candidates with a B.Sc. degree in related disciplines with more than ten (10) years demonstrated experience in hydrogeological applications and water resources management will also be considered. The successful candidate should have either a proven track record of publications in recognized peer reviewed journals or the demonstrated ability to attract project funding.
REMUNERATION & BENEFITS
The appointment will be at either the Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer scale of the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados depending on the academic background and experience of the successful candidate. The ideal candidate should be a mid-career professional. However, candidates in the early stages of their professional careers will be considered.
